The Island 94.7/97.5 isn't just another radio station playing great Smooth Jazz & More. The Island is a 501c3 and teaching facility helping kids find their voice through the world of radio by doing real on-air radio shows, voicing commercials, creating podcasts, and adding digital publishing as bloggers.
Our goal is to give children between the ages of 13-20 the opportunity to explore the radio media so the can learn basic communication skills, gain confidence, and the opportunity to find their voice and make a positive impact in our community.
The Island 94.7/97.5 will be located at the Risley High School in their brand-new arts building in the meantime, we’re located at the Boys & Girls Club Elizabeth Correll Teen Center.
WWEZ – The Island 94.7/97.5 is a Non-Profit, Non-Commercial, Tax-Exempt Radio Station. As such, we depend on the support of our listeners and corporate sponsors to remain on the air and help as many kids in our community as we possibly can.
Here is how you can help:
1. Listeners can help by pledging tax deductible donations
2. Local businesses can help by underwriting a portion of our programming at affordable monthly rates.
For your support we’ll identify your business at various times throughout the day. These are not advertisements, as heard on commercial radio stations, but rather dignified identifications of the businesses that are helping the station.
